Abhinav holds a BS-MS dual degree in Biology from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune, and is joining the University of California, San Diego as a PhD student in Biological Sciences, in the Department of Ecology, Behavior, and Evolution. His research sits at the intersection of mathematical biology and cancer science; he builds spatially explicit computer simulations to study how cancer stem cells evolve, cooperate, and resist treatment inside tumors, borrowing tools from ecology to ask questions about disease. His long-term aspiration is to lead an independent research group that integrates evolutionary theory, complex systems frameworks, and cancer medicine. Beyond research, Abhinav is an avid tennis player and a passionate singer.
