Vishnu Prasad

Vishnu Prasad works with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) on strengthening the housing, land, and property rights of stateless Rohingya communities in Myanmar. He was previously engaged with the Urban Research and Development Institute (URDI) based in Yangon, Myanmar on strengthening municipal capacity in three border towns in Myanmar focusing on a range of issues including land use management, financial access and planning, and disaster mitigation. Vishnu was also engaged in UN-Habitat’s first comprehensive mapping of informal settlements in Yangon, Myanmar. Before switching to urban planning, Vishnu worked on issues of financial sector regulation and social security for the unorganized sector at the IFMR Finance Foundation. He holds a Masters’ degree in City Planning and International Development from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an Integrated Masters’ degree in Economics from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras.
