Preksha is currently working as an Economist in the South Asia Region’s Chief Economist’s Office (SARCE) at the World Bank, based in Washington, D.C. where she is working on field experiments around gender, informality, and the digital economy. After completing her Masters in International and Development Economics from Yale University in 2020, she worked as a Research Associate at Massachusetts Institute of Technology for two years, affiliated with a poverty-alleviation think-tank Innovations for Poverty Action. Here she worked on projects around gender and social protection in Kenya. She completed her undergraduate studies in Economics from Hans Raj College, Delhi University and also worked in management consulting at Bain & Company for two years before heading to Yale. Preksha’s interest lies in using data to provide innovative solutions to socio-economic problems faced by developing countries, and through her work, she would like to catalyse the shift towards evidence-based policymaking. Outside of academics, she dabbles in music, enjoys coffee, and exploring the outdoors.
