Ajinkya Naik

Pranav Sudhir Pandit

Dr. Pranav Pandit, BVSc & AH, MPVM, PhD, is an assistant professor of veterinary epidemiology at the Department of Population Health and Reproduction, School of Veterinary Medicine, University of California Davis. His research centers around the ecology of emerging infectious diseases, with a particular focus on developing climate-based models to forecast the risks of emerging zoonotic diseases. Dr. Pandit leads the development of a surveillance platform for the early detection of wildlife outbreaks across the United States. His research investigates the environmental drivers of zoonotic pathogen distribution and transmission, aiming to optimize mitigation strategies. Collaborating with livestock veterinarians, Dr. Pandit develops predictive tools to assist producers in better managing endemic livestock diseases. Within his lab, there is a dedicated focus on the development of AI models for veterinary science and epidemiology. Dr. Pandit is a proponent of data stewardship, particularly in the field of One Health. His overarching goal is to contribute to building resilient food and agriculture systems through technological innovations that safeguard ecological and public health.

Through this fellowship, she has conducted the first-of-its-kind study on the experiences of queer students during their school life in India. This project has since won the Jack Collins Social Action Bursary of the Oriel College, Oxford in 2017.
