Nandini Periyapalayam Sekar

Nandini is currently pursuing PhD in Bioengineering (Joint programme) at the University of California – Berkeley & University of California – San Francisco . She is a B.Tech graduate in Biotechnology from SASTRA University, Thanjavur, and completed her Masters in Neuroscience in Germany and Netherlands through the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship. She is interested in developing neurotechnological solutions to neurological and psychiatric disorders. Nandini is the Founder of The Keni Project (2013- Present) which is a student-run organization that sets up libraries in underprivileged schools by collecting used books from the public. She is a trained Carnatic vocalist and plays the instrument, Veena. She is also a painter and artist, for which she received the National Balshree Honor given by the President of India (the second highest civilian award given to youth in India).
