Shailee Jain

Shailee Jain is a computational neuroscientist who applies machine learning to study how the human brain processes language, from the level of single neurons to largescale circuits. She is currently working as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Neurosurgery in the University of California San Francisco. In August 2023, she completed her PhD in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Texas at Austin and previously, was a gold medalist at the National Institute of Technology Karnataka. Her PhD research was awarded the Best Dissertation Award by the Society for the Neurobiology of Language and her collaborative work has been widely featured in the press, including Al Jazeera, The New York Times, BBC, Scientific American, Cold Fusion YouTube channel and NBC news. She was also awarded fellowships by the William Orr Dingwall Foundation and UT Austin to support her PhD. Shailee’s research has been published in top Neuro-AI venues including NeurIPS, ICML, Journal of Neuroscience and Nature Neuroscience. She has organized multiple international symposiums on Neuro-AI and in 2021, was named as an MIT EECS Rising Star. Outside of research, Shailee enjoys biking, reading, gardening and chai.
