Hardik Patil was awarded the Narotam Sekhsaria Foundation Scholarship to pursue a Master of Science degree in Civil (Structural) Engineering from the University of Michigan. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Civil Engineering and Scientific Computing at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Hardik’s research focuses on analysing and designing thin-shelled origami-inspired and barlinked reconfigurable structures. He holds a Bachelor of Technology (with Honors) degree in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. He wishes to pursue a career in industry research and has worked on various projects spanning topics like machine learning, optimisation theory, structural analyses, remote sensing, and water resources. Outside of the classroom, he volunteers as a student mentor to help undergraduate students with their research and has served as the head of Media & Marketing for the Entrepreneurship Cell of Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. In his free time, he likes to engage in photography, gaming, cooking, books, and workouts.
